Ooh, shiny… (award post)

Never has there been an award shinier than this one.

Shout out to Lina at Tiny Ugly Animal for this nomination. Admittedly, I am rather selective about what I look at from my Reader but Lina’s crappy anime posts are consistently entertaining. Those are a piece of sunshine to my day (even if the anime in question might give one a headache).

It’s not part of the rules, but it’s standard practice to have an award picture now…(Source)

To the rules!

  • Thank the person who nominated me for this. (Done.)
  • Answer the questions that has been mentioned in the post. (Wait…so is there one question, or multiple questions?)
  • Post my set of questions for my nominees to answer. (Oh…multiple questions. Got it.)
  • Nominate users for ‘The Sunshine Blogger Award’.

The question…prompt…thingy…

We all dream of what we want to do. What we want to be. There are some crazy dreams (like meeting up with aliens or saving the world like Superman) which we know will never happen but still dream about a lot. Then there are those realistic dreams, like being a writer or a doctor or anything which is “sensible”. I want to know what your “crazy” dream and your “sensible” dreams are.

It says crazy dream and sensible dreams, so I’ll go with that.

This seems kind of silly for a Japanophile like me (note I am not a “weeaboo”…but more on my personal definition of “weeb” in another post), but I haven’t been to Japan. I could’ve gone to Japan on exchange at one point, but it was popular the year I chose to participate and the people who got picked to go didn’t use much Japanese at all.

Unfortunately, some of said people turned out to be my friends – I’m happy they got to go on a potentially once-in-a-lifetime trip and I understand some expats can live in Japan without knowing a lick of Japanese so for my friends, it should be no problem – but considering I’ve been chasing this one thing for the 2 and a half years or so since I first lost the chance to go, you can see why I’m so frustrated about it…Aside from that, it’s just one obstacle after another getting in my way.

Aside from that…I don’t know why I have this on my bucket list, but for some arbitrary reason, the one thing that’s stayed on my bucket list for a while (longer than the Japan thing, at least) is “go to New York and try an authentic bagel”.

Bagels are good and all, but New York? Brain, why did you have to be so specific about the location of the ideal bagel???

Plus, why a bagel? I probably couldn’t pick a favourite food, but I don’t think I’d pick a bagel as my favourite food…

I guess the reason behind this is that I have no reasons to go to New York aside from “there’s no language barrier” and “I’ve never been”…I think this particular thing might be a misremembering of something involving maple bacon which is probably not meant to refer to New York, but I digress. It’s plausible though, so it counts.

That stupid thing aside, I think my crazy dream would be to go on The Amazing Race (American version). If there’s one thing I like almost as much as anime and manga, it’s The Amazing Race, but the most I commit to it is late nights watching TV. The American version is always the one with the largest circulation worldwide and it has a lot of “test run” things like the partner swap from the currently-airing season 30, so I think it would be a tonne of fun. It would be pretty darn embarrassing if you got edited to be the “bad guy”, though.

Some reasons why this is a crazy dream:

  • I think one of the rules to be on the American version is to be an American citizen.
  • My physical fitness isn’t the best.
  • I tend to snap under pressure and make unreasonable demands when I’m angry…

Questions

I think people are probably sick of the dreams thing, so let’s see…since Shoka is apparently off chasing his career dreams, I’ll let him off the hook and let’s go with 3 questions and 3 nominations. How about that?

  1. If you had to play tug-of-war with a group of anime/manga characters, which characters would you pick and how would it pan out?
  2. What would you call your worst anime at the moment and why does it hold that position?
  3. What is the most terrifying experience you remember?

  1. Congratulations! 😀
Participating in the The Amazing Race must be so freaking cool! Although as you I think I would never be that much of a participant. Not phisically adept and well, if I had to something with heights I would just quit in the moment loool (or eating cheese, I remember one episode where they had to eat fondue, I would throw up just with the smell lolol)

  2. Oh, great dreams, crazy or not. Actually, I know the feeling of the one being left behind too. It sucks royally, especially if you see that they might not appreciate it as much as you would. Well, one day… As for the bagel, that is kind of awesome. Somehow I also associate New York with the perfect bagel. I wonder why?

    Thank you for responding!

  3. Congratulations on the award!. Haha..yeah those crappy animes as much fun as they are, can definitely give headaches. It’s worth it though lol 😂😂
As for Japan, it’s certainly on my bucket list as well. Or any other Asian country that is. I’m just fascinated by Asian culture. It’s so rich. But who knows, maybe one day it will happen and for you as well. Great post! 😊

  4. Congrats, and thanks for the nomination! I get the feeling of not getting to go to Japan when your friends’ names got drawn instead…happened to me in high school. I’ve been to Japan for a flight transfer and that’s about it. Am hoping to change that though~
