Appreciating the Little Things (Award Post)

Another not-quite-nomination.

Puttin’ Arthifis’s tips to use here. By the way, they worked like a charm! (Source: Tetrax’s post, see link below)

Just to get this out of the way first, the rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, link back to their site
  • Write a paragraph of something positive about yourself
  • Nominate and notify as many bloggers as you wish
  • Use the award image (done)

First of all, this was a call to action from Tetrax, which is why it isn’t a nomination per se. Tetrax’s logical way of looking at things really shone through in his response…an argument I’ve heard for people liking maths is because unlike feelings, languages and arguments, maths always stays the same. 0 + 0 always equals 0…except when you’re working with circuits.

To explain: 0 + 0 = 1 in certain types of circuit gates, such as the NOR gate.

…bad joke aside, I was talking with Plyasm on the day I started writing this post and that might have given me the answer I needed. In fact, I might’ve just hinted at it.

Knowledge-wise, I come across as a jack-of-all-trades and this is probably one of my greatest assets (second only to my ability to be prompt, as Astral would know). In fact, it’s been an extremely useful thing to have, considering I’ve spent most of my life relying on that sponge of a brain. It’s gotten me this far and it’ll take me to places I haven’t seen yet.

Knowledge recall doesn’t seem to be something people praise a lot – they only praise things in conjunction with it, such as, “Your spelling is so good!” or “You’re so good at knowing kanji. How do you do it?”

Furthermore, I’m always up for learning about useless and niche facts, which is what Ply and I were talking about. Then again, because I don’t know much about sports and video games aside from the bare minimum and my knowledge of pop music is hit-and-miss, I’m kind of a crutch on trivia teams…which sounds like a bit of a paradox, to be honest…

…It makes me sound like a jerk to praise my stock of knowledge when my memory can sometimes be worse than that of a goldfish, but that’s what this post is for.

Okay, I think that’s more than what qualifies for a “paragraph”, so let’s stop there.

I’ll nominate 3 people who haven’t done this award before…I’m sure they won’t mind…

  • Cactus Matt – I don’t know what it is about his comment section but it always brings out the best ideas in me (or just the talkative side). To be honest, it’s a surprise he hasn’t done this award yet…
  • Yomu – I don’t know too much about Yomu because bloggers-wise, we’re probably not the closest. However, I did ask him to take a look-see at one of my non-review posts so this’ll give him incentive to look more thoroughly at the Spellbook.
  • Moya – Another person with a follower count higher than mine (as I’m typing this, I sit a few from 100 followers) and thus another surprise of the “I’m sure [this person] had done this award before” flavour.

Writing this out made me realise it’s been a while since the last award post (one that wasn’t a TBR/W post) came out. Maybe it’s just my distorted sense of time or something…

Anyways, I don’t think I’ve even started thinking about what to do for the 100 followers post. While we’re on the topic, what sort of post do you want to see for that milestone?

  1. Didn’t they say that Knowledge is Power? Oh wait…moyatori already said that as well lol. But it is true, that is for sure! Great post, and you really deserve the nomination too!
Nearly at 100 followers huh? Really amazing milestone. Always difficult to decide what to do. Maybe you can do some kind of trivia post? Or share some experiences from the past blogging wise? Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure it will be awesome 😊

  2. Knowledge is power~ Thanks for the nomination. I believe I’ve done a different version of this a long time ago, but I always accept nominations. Just might take me a while to get to it!

  3. Thank you for the nomination, of course I don’t mind!
A tag post as well as the opportunity to review one of your non-reviews is very generous of you 🙂 Much appreciated.

The way you describe yourself reminds me of Hanekawa from Monogatari: “I don’t know everything, I just know what I know.”

  4. To be honest, I would love to be more like you! My memory is pretty terrible, which means there are many trivia things that I just completely forget after a hour or two xD I’m better with rational thought and logic xD I’ve always had a pretty easy going with everything that is logic related xD

Also, thank you so much for the shot out eheh ❤

  5. Wow! A broad knowledge and instant recall is like one of the best skill sets to have! When you mentioned that it reminded me of Satoshi (oh, by the way useless knowledge isn’t really useless, I had friends who say they remember ‘useless knowledge’ but it always proved useful in ways they didn’t expect it to be :D)

How about the top 5/10 potions that you brew to season your posts with magic?
(Haha, okay just kidding, a Q&A / hand reveal sounds like possible ideas… totally not stealing other peoples’ ideas!!! XD)
