I’m about 2 weeks late on this nomination, but better late than never…
Thank you, Amelia, for this nomination (it’s not Irina for once, surprisingly). Amelia’s clearly put a lot of effort into the visual aspect of her blog, from the banners (simple yet effective) to the infographic she cooked up for her followers regarding her watched anime in 2017.
(to Amelia) You mentioned in your nomination you found the Ode to Anime Studios interesting, and I didn’t think anyone liked it to be honest. They’re clearly my posts with the least effort and have the shortest lengths, to boot…
(to everyone) The upcoming Ode is about TROYCA, so look forward to that next week.
I readily admit my name is from Detective Conan, and thus there should only be one N in the middle…but hey, participating in the 12 Days worked as intended!
So where is the award? It’s right here…

Da Rules (…a virtual pat on the back to anyone who can recognise the reference off the bat…)
- Display the award!
- Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog. (Try and include a little bit of promotion!)
- Answer the questions they’ve written for you!
- Nominate 8-13 bloggers and give them three questions in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity within our blogging family!
Questions for the Answering
1) What was it that made you start blogging?
It’s quite clear I didn’t start on WordPress, so get comfortable – it’s story time…
Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant year of 2012, armageddon hadn’t happened yet (has it?), and the person you know as MagicConan14 was in a so-called “advanced” computer class, and had to do a project of creating a website.
…Now, the details of such a website and what happened to it aren’t important, but for this project, MagicConan14 and their group members had to blog about it. The platform of their choice was Blogger.
Out of curiosity, MagicConan14 started another blog on Blogger not too long afterwards, talking about subjects on their mind like Coldplay music and anime, and got a tiny number of pageviews so they deleted their blog. At the end of 2012, MagicConan14 started again on Tumblr, blogging erratically about things on their mind…mostly anime, manga and the like…
Skip to 2017. MagicConan14 became a fan of Seikaisuru Kado (Kado: the Right Answer) and wandered the internet for anything on it. They ended up meeting Scott somewhere along this tangent, and even though they were approaching 5 years on Tumblr, they ended up loving the WordPress community and coming back for more. They tried to write like their WordPress idols, but gained like and reblog numbers in the single digits.
In November of 2017, MagicConan14 joined a Habitica challenge which required a WordPress blog, so they signed up and did one themselves. However, after some convincing from a well-timed post by Karandi, they realised talking about their habits was awkward and they would rather talk about anime. Irina started up her blogwarming parties around this time, and while the Spellbook was started too late to be eligible for the first party, it did manage to stick around for the second.
Thus, the tale of the Spellbook continues…
(The Habitica challenge blog has been deleted, so don’t bother.)
2) What do you do in your free time, apart from blogging?
- I mentioned Coldplay above, so unsurprisingly listening to music is one thing. I’m actually not that much of a Coldplay groupie, but they’re the artist(s?) I’m most vocal about my love for.
- Tackling the occasional Ren’py-made visual novel/kinetic novel (free downloadable ones, whether that be the demo or the entire thing). I fall in and out of visual novel love a lot, which is why I haven’t brought this particular hobby of mine up at all.
- …otherwise, it’s quite obviously watching anime, reading manga and scouring the internet for interesting things.
3) What are your blog goals for 2018?
I made some resolutions a few weeks ago…they can be found here.
Nominations
If anyone’s done it already, make sure to use the comments.
- NegativePrimes (Curiously Dead Cat)
- Shokamoka (more award spam, because I have been acknowledged as “evil”)
- Perlem (Purposefully Lackluster)
- The Xenodude
- Cojiro (The Cucco’s Nest)
- tetrax4berium
- Artemis (Otaku Lounge)
- Irina (because I’m sure she won’t mind…)
Questions for the Nominees
- What would be the worst sport to make into an anime (assuming it didn’t have one already)?
- Do you think there will ever be/there has ever been such a thing as the “idol boom” and why/why not?
- Is there a genre (in any medium) you believe to be underappreciated, and why is that the case?
…I admit I may have gone overboard with the puns and the snark this time…It must be the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels I’ve been reading lately…
“…there should only be one N in the middle…”
Ahh, that was my mistake, I apologise! I’ll fix that on my post straight away! ^^” Thanks for taking the time to reply to my nomination, though! :3

This is just how I remember it, so we may have met on another post of yours. Either way, my Tumblr is still somewhat active but I’m glad to have made the move to WordPress.
